TIMON®

tank level measurement

We offer entire systems for the solution of your all tank level measuring tasks. Beside the pneumatic and electric tank level gauging systems we also offer electro-pneumatic tank level gauging systems which are highly reliable and may be used with most (including hazardous) tank contents.

Pneumatic tank level gauging systems

Pneumatic tank level gauging systems have proved their reliability for applications where easily operated systems are required which work in self-governed environment. They only require clean and pressurised air. Even without electric supply the indicators show the tank contents.

Electric and electro-pneumatic tank level gauging systems

Electric and electro-pneumatic tank level gauging systems offer the advantage of integrating the modern tank level measuring system with the onboard electronic and simplify the processing of the electric measuring signals. Thus they offer versatile possibilities of monitoring and control of the data.

The tank level gauging systems consist of electric or electro-pneumatic TIMON®- transmitter which do the measurement inside or outside the tank, and the TIMON®-indicators which indicate the results of the measurement in the engine room or on the bridge.

We offer various models of transmitters and indicators depending on the technical requirements. For the online-control and the connection to other onboard management systems such as machinery or lubricant management systems TILSE offers the system TIMON® 122. This system supplies the tank data by the Ethernet interface via LAN/WAN or Internet. For the tank level control you only need a Web-Browser.

Our complete systems include all the necessary indicators and displays and thus offer an easy handling of the tank level control including alarm functions and pump control.

Our TIMON® tank level measuring products have been tested and type-approved by international classification societies such as Germanischer Lloyd and Lloyds Register.

TIMON® Electric Indicators

In order to come to the right decisions on board, you are dependant on the right information. TILSE indicators deliver this information with a clear and precise interface. Our digital-/bargraph indicator TIMON® 2012 offers the information you need at a glance. The TIMON® 2012 indicator offers a simultaneous display (digital LED format) of the tanks data either in figures or as LED-bargraph indication.

The TIMON® 2012 indicator adapts automatically to the surrounding light and offers an optimum indication of the tank contents. The indicator offers three independently programmable potential free relay contacts which can be used as alarm functions or for the control of the pumps and valves. The individual tank curves are programmed via the integrated USB interface. Thus the displays can easily be adapted to all your requirements.

For less demanding tasks we offer our electric indicators TIMON® 2200. These displays show the tank contents by a classic needle dial and are available in the sizes Q72, Q96 and Q144.

TIMON® Electric Indicator with web interface

The indicator TIMON® 2012W has a digital LED display, same as the TIMON® 2012 indicator, which indicates the tank content in figures and as LED bargraph indication which shows the percental level of the tank at a glance. An Ethernet-Interface and an own Web-server are also integrated. After connecting the indicator TIMON® 2012W with the local network (LAN), the tank contents can be read with a standard Web-Browser. The Web indication is conform with the TIMON® 2012W indicator.

With the Web interface it is also possible to read the tank contents with other systems or programms. The TIMON® 2012W indicator adjusts itself automatically to the sourrounding light and thus offers an optimum and clear indication of the tank contents.

The TIMON® 2012W indicator offers two independently programmable potential free relay contacts, which can be used as alarm function or for the control of pumps and valves. An additional relay contact can be used for the treatment of error messages. The individual tank curves are programmed via the integrated Web interface. Thus the indicator can easily be adapted to all your requirements.

Transmitter

The ultimate tank level measurement is undertaken at the transmitter. The transmitter type depends on the installation location and its purpose.

The electro-pneumatic transmitter TIMON® 3-17 is the top model of our transmitters. It combines the advantages of pneumatic measuring with those of electric measurement: As with the pneumatic tank level measuring systems air bubbles are continuously streamed from the lowest part of the tank. The integrated pressure sensor measures the pressure of the air bubbles.

The tank contents, for example heavy oil or sewage, are not in contact with the sensitive pressure sensor. The continuous air supply also cleans the measuring pipe. In case of an interruption of the air supply the integrated non-return valve prevents the tank medium from penetrating into the transmitter.

This measuring method allows an individual and versatile mounting of the transmitters. It is possible to place the transmitters on top of the tank, at the side of the tank or even under the tank. Only the measuring pipe must lead from the lowest part of the tank to the transmitter. It is even possible to place the transmitter far away from the tank, for example inside a control panel. Thus the transmitter can be installed in an easy accessible place.

For the electric measurement TILSE offers two transmitters types:

The TIMON® ME 49 transmitter is the classic electric transmitter. The pressure sensor measures the pressure directly in the tank contents. The transmitter must be mounted under the tank. The measured pressure is transmitted as an electric signal.

The TIMON® NC 54 is a captive pressure sensor. The measuring sensor enters the tank from the top. The filling level is measured and transmitted as an electric signal.

The electric signal of the transmitters is then indicated by a TIMON® indicator or is processed by the tank level controller TIMON® 122 for the display on any web browser.

Online monitoring

On modern ships the monitoring and control is undertaken by integrated computer systems. These systems also need the details from the tank level gauging systems. Up to now the supply of this data was often made by many complicated industrial-bus-systems. Even with the electric interfaces such as RS485 and although the recorded data is averaged, the connection and display was not always smooth and accurate.

In order to offer a simple but reliable supply of the tank data, we developed the new TIMON® 122 tank level controller.

The TIMON® 122 controller receives the measured data directly from the TIMON® transmitters, processes them internally with the programmed tank curves and transmits them to the network through the integrated web server via the Ethernet interface. You can recall the data with a Web-Browser and easily print the current tank levels. For the integration and processing with other systems the data can be transmitted in a simplified ASCII format.
